Global positioning system

The new facilities of the global positioning system (GPS) in combination with the differential global positioning system (DGPS) expand the surveying application of our company. Apart from grid compaction, these new technologies can be effectively used for the documentation and the re-marking of pipes of every kind.
 

Advantages of GPS

  • independent of weather conditions: surveying is possible in fog and darkness
  • sight: for positioning it isn’t necessary to have line of sight to surrounding reference points
  • homogeneity of positioning: within one defined industrial area there is approximately the same precision of positioning for each point
  • Field of reference points: The compaction of the field of reference points works without expensive surveying preparation, because it is unnecessary to connect to pre-existing land survey reference points. GPS reference points can be installed wherever necessary and could later be used for conventional surveying.
  • Control of machines: GPS and DGPS allow high degrees of automation and make it easy to identify the position/storage location item of the stored slaps and bunches.
  • Marking off objects: GPS and DGPS are applicable surveying methods for efficient marking off. These methods are also practical to reconstruct the position of pipes.
